چکیده

We present an iterative method to compute the Maxwell’s transmission eigenvalue problem which has importance in non-destructive testing of anisotropic materials. The transmission eigenvalue problem is first written as a quad-curl eigenvalue problem. Then we show that the real transmission eigenvalues are the roots of a non-linear function whose value is the generalized eigenvalue of a related selfadjoint quad-curl eigenvalue problem which is computed using a mixed finite element method. A secant method is used to compute the roots of the non-linear function. Numerical examples are presented to validate the method. Moreover, the method is employed to study the dependence of the transmission eigenvalue on the anisotropy and to reconstruct the index of refraction of an inhomogeneous medium. Inverse Sturm-Liouville problems with a Spectral Parameter in the Boundary and transmission conditions

In this manuscript, we study the inverse problem for non self-adjoint Sturm--Liouville operator $-D^2+q$ with eigenparameter dependent boundary and discontinuity conditions inside a finite closed interval. By defining  a new Hilbert space and  using its spectral data of a kind, it is shown that the potential function can be uniquely determined by part of a set of values of eigenfunctions at som...

Not Return Your Form to the above Organization

We consider the scattering of time harmonic electromagnetic plane waves by a bounded, inhomogeneous, anisotropic dielectric medium and show that under certain assumptions a lower bound on the norm of the (matrix) index of refraction can be obtained from a knowledge of the smallest transmission eigenvalue corresponding to the medium. Numerical examples are given showing the efficaciousness of ou...

On the Existence of Transmission Eigenvalues

The investigation of the far field operator and the Factorization Method in inverse scattering theory leads naturally to the study of corresponding interior transmission eigenvalue problems. In contrast to the classical Dirichletor Neumann eigenvalue problem for −∆ in bounded domains these interior transmiision eigenvalue problem fail to be selfadjoint. In general, existence of eigenvalues is a...

On the existence of transmission eigenvalues in an inhomogeneous medium

We prove the existence of transmission eigenvalues corresponding to the inverse scattering problem for isotropic and anisotropic media for both scalar Helmholtz equation and Maxwell’s equations. Considering a generalized abstract eigenvalue problem, we are able to extend the ideas of Päivärinta and Sylvester [15] to prove the existence of transmission eigenvalues for a larger class of interior ...

Finite Element Methods for Maxwell's Transmission Eigenvalues

The transmission eigenvalue problem plays a critical role in the theory of qualitative methods for inhomogeneous media in inverse scattering theory. Efficient computational tools for transmission eigenvalues are needed to motivate improvements to theory, and, more importantly as part of inverse algorithms for estimating material properties. In this paper, we propose two finite element methods t...
